TrueScale Privacy Policy.
ZKOW Pty Ltd (ABN 97 676 633 793), trading as TrueScale, collects as little personal information as we can, never sells it, and never reads your drawings. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What the TrueScale software sends
Crash reports and anonymous usage analytics are on by default, and you can turn either off at any time. We use them only to find and fix problems and to see which features people use.
We never read your drawing contents or file names. Nothing TrueScale sends (licence checks, update checks, crash reports, usage analytics or Send Log Files) contains the contents of your drawings, PDFs, markups, measurements or quotes, or the names of your files and folders.
- Crash reports: the error, where in TrueScale it happened, and system information (operating system, memory, screen, TrueScale version). File names are removed.
- Anonymous usage analytics: counts of which features and commands are used, with the TrueScale version and operating system. No name, email, licence key or file details.
- Licence activation and checks: licence key, licence email, a one-way device fingerprint, the computer's name, TrueScale version, operating system and activation dates, to activate seats, show your computers so you can manage them, send activation alerts, and allow one trial per computer.
- Send Log Files (only when you choose to send): the logs and system information, in an email you send yourself. Logs contain no document content, and file names are replaced by codes.
2. What else we collect, and why
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Waitlist | Email, optional trade, the consent wording you agreed to, page and time | To tell you when TrueScale is ready to buy (and news, only if you tick the box) |
| Contact and email | Name, email, optional company and trade, your message | To answer you |
| Education application | Name, email, institution, course, expected finish, a student or staff email or a photo of your student or staff card | To check eligibility; card photos are deleted once we decide |
| Purchase (through Paddle) | Name, email, country, company and tax number if given, what you bought | To issue and manage your licence and invoices. Paddle handles card details; we never see them |
| Website visits | Your country, read from our host to show prices in your currency (not stored); anonymous page counts if Cloudflare Web Analytics is switched on (no cookies) | To show the right currency and see which pages help people |
This website uses no cookies. Your currency choice is remembered in your own browser only.
3. What we never collect
- Your drawings, PDFs, markups, measurements or quotes, or the names of your files. TrueScale works on your own computers and never sends document content or file names to us.
- Anything from a TrueScale Server you run yourself. It runs on your hardware; we have no access to it or its files.
- Payment card numbers (Paddle handles them).
4. Who receives it
We share personal information only with the services that run TrueScale for us, and only what each needs:
- Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, United Kingdom): our reseller and merchant of record, for checkout, payment, tax, invoices and refunds.
- Our licensing provider (Keygen, United States, or another provider we name here): licence keys, activations and device fingerprints.
- Cloudflare (United States, with servers worldwide): our website, forms storage, downloads and email routing.
- Our email provider: to send and receive email with you.
Some of these are outside Australia. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles. We never sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. The waitlist and news
When you join the waitlist we store your email address, your trade if you choose one, the consent wording you agreed to ("We'll use your email to tell you when TrueScale is ready to buy. If you tick the box, we'll also send you news, tips and offers. Unsubscribe any time. See our Privacy page."), the page you joined from and the time.
- The waitlist. We email you when TrueScale is ready to buy, and when an offer such as the founding price is available. Joining the waitlist is all it takes.
- News, tips and offers, only if you tick the box. The box next to "Also send me TrueScale news, tips and offers. Unsubscribe any time." is never ticked for you, and you can join the waitlist without it. If you tick it, we store that choice, the exact wording shown next to the box and the time.
To unsubscribe from news, tips and offers, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or email [email protected]. We act on it within 5 business days. Unsubscribing from news leaves you on the waitlist unless you ask us to remove you from that too.
We do not send any email yet. Before the first one, every marketing email will carry a working one-click unsubscribe link.
To stop the same visitor sending the form over and over, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your internet address (never the address itself) for no more than a day.
6. Education applications
We use what you send only to check that you are studying or teaching, and to send you your licence. Card photos are deleted as soon as we have decided on your application. The rest is kept while your education licence is active.
7. How long we keep it
- Waitlist and contact messages: until you ask us to delete them, or two years after our last contact.
- Education card photos: deleted as soon as we decide the application.
- Licence and purchase records: for as long as the licence exists, plus the time tax law requires for invoices (usually five years).
- Crash reports, usage analytics and logs you send: up to 12 months.
8. Your choices and rights
- Turn crash reports and usage analytics off in TrueScale at any time.
- Ask to see, correct or delete your personal information by emailing [email protected]. We reply within 30 days.
- Leave the waitlist at any time from the link in any email, or by asking us.
- Deactivate a computer at any time to remove it from your licence.
- If you are in the EU, UK or another region with its own privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, including to complain to your local regulator.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections, keep access to customer records to the people who need it, and store secrets such as keys outside our code. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
10. Complaints
Email [email protected] first. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
11. Changes
We will post any changes here with a new date, and tell licence holders by email about any significant change.
